Heather crossed her arms, refusing to let the smirk on Flynn Duncan’s face rattle her.
“Well, I do like to keep things interesting,” she said, softer than she intended. His grin deepened—he’d caught it.
“Of course I’m in,” he replied easily. “This place has potential. And let’s be honest, if I can survive another run-in with your four-legged fan club, I think I’ll have earned a medal.”
Heather huffed a laugh. “Oh, so now you’re looking for hero status?”
“Lass, I’m just trying to keep you in one piece.” She groaned, scrubbing her face.
“I’ll never live that down, will I?”
“Not a chance.” Her lips curved, despite herself. “Fine. I’ll try to avoid any more near-death—or near-naked—experiences.”
His grin turned wicked. “Good. Wouldn’t want the cows thinking you’re easy prey.” Heather bit back a laugh as he leaned closer, blue eyes sparking. Renovating Glenoran might break her—but maybe, with Flynn, staying was worth the risk.
