"Hey," a voice suddenly sounds beside me. At first, I don't even realize someone has spoken to me, but when he says "Hey" a second time, I look up.
The voice belongs to a good-looking man with black hair and eyes, whose color I can't see in the dim light, but which definitely look interested. He's not particularly tall, which works out perfectly since I'm more handbag-sized myself. Except for Leah and me, everyone in our family is huge. Orla could easily be Amazon queen Penthesilea's reincarnation. No idea why both of us turned out rather small. Mom isn't a giant either, but still a bit taller than us.
That's why Orla and I don't go for the same type. Orla definitely needs at least six inches more, so she doesn't spit on the guy's head. And by that, I mean height.
For me, however, a more compact format is fine. He's not short either. He still has at least half a head advantage over me.
But I kind of like that.
He's the athletic type, his arms, covered by a T-shirt, are lined with lean muscles. But he's not as brawny as Brady, for example. Though it must be said that Brady has developed more of a dad bod since unexpectedly becoming a father.
I let my gaze deliberately slowly sweep over him. When I land on his face, he grins.
"Hey."
Of course, I've already signaled interest by looking at him so slowly, but now I act as if I couldn't care less, and suck on my straw. Which, of course, isn't meant to suggest anything sexual in any way. God forbid.

I put my glass on the counter, toss my hair over my shoulder, shrug slightly, and say: "Okay."
