“Hey, I’m Cash,” I said, reaching my hand out to her. “Cash Donovan. It’s so good to finally meet you.”

“Nice to meet you, too.” She stepped closer and shook my hand. “I’m Lennox. I assume you’ll be the one interviewing me?” 

I nodded, taking in the intoxicating scent of her fruity perfume.

Was it berries and lemon? Lemon blueberries?

“Great!” she said with a clap of her hands. “Shall we get started? I’m ready whenever you are.” 

“Sure, right this way.” I waved her toward my workstation. 

She smiled and gripped my upper arm, feeling my muscle. Licking her lips and leaning into me, she whispered, “We’re not sticking to the cue cards, right?” 

I laughed harder and shook my head. “Hell no, we aren’t.”

“I think I like you already.”

A girl after my own ridiculousness. I’m in love already.

“Seriously?” Drake deadpanned. 

Paige chuckled. “I don’t know why you even tried.”

Lennox sat down in the seat I pulled out for her. “Is there anything you’d like before we start? Anything to drink?” 

“Thank you.” Pleased with my chivalry, she answered, “I’ve got my green tea in my bag, so I’m good.”

“You’re welcome,” I said. “Let me get these two out of here and we’ll get going.”

“Perfect!” 

I shooed Drake and Paige out of the booth, but Drake tried one more time to get Lennox to listen to him about sticking to the preset questions before she flicked her wrist at him and said, “Bro, get the hell out of here. I’m working and you’re in the way.” 

I shot him an arrogant grin and shut the door in his face.

With narrowed eyes, he pointed a finger at me. “I swear, Donovan, I will have your ass if you go rogue!”

Oh, I’m going rogue.
