I’ve been told that I’m Howling Creek's favorite local forest ranger, but it’s not because I’m a witch. As far as witches go, I’m probably one of the worst. Controlling my magic has never been an option, and my powers have been broken for as long as I can remember. My gifts only show up on their own terms—usually unannounced—at the most inconvenient of times. Things have gotten so bad that my new familiar recently decided to take all her magic away.

Fortunately for me, my day job doesn't require much supernatural skill. Working at The Ancients Agency doing forest patrol is just a fancy way of saying that I keep an eye out for signs that the resident shifters are misbehaving. Actually, keeping the wolf packs and leopard pride under control? That’s well above my pay grade.
Which is honestly for the best, considering that one of the wolf shifters just turned up dead.
Now, my supervisor wants me to lead the murder investigation, and I’m not convinced I’m qualified. But at least it brings me face-to-face with the irresistibly handsome and incredibly angry Kellen Rich. As the Alpha of the Howlers Wolf Pack, he wants vengeance for his fallen pack member, and the crime is jeopardizing his attempts to forge a peace treaty with the rival wolf pack, the Dark Fangs.
Kellen is more than just a huge hunk of eye candy, though. He gives me a few leads and a lot of interesting feelings, but I can't afford to worry about a crush while I’m working to get my magic back and hunt down a killer. As the most cursed member of the coven, I’m starting to worry that I might not have what it takes to administer justice and keep the wolves from going to war.
